UK Nominee Still Life Amateur "An Enchantment by Moonlight" An image of a flower captured in camera and ‘grown on’ in photoshop to transplant it from Botany into Fantasy! As a child amongst nature I found a land full of magic lit with incredible peace and sheer joy. I found a place of belonging where there is no judgement, no pressure, no time limits and without realising it a place where the rest of the world falls gently into perspective. This ‘communing’ with nature has continued into my adult life and I spend time every day amongst the flora and fauna that surrounds where I live I Perthshire – either just being amongst it, or studying it, or when the time is right – photographing it.) Nature is my muse and through it I find that I am able to explore and express myself – both in the light and the shade . . .and to share what I do with people who are ‘moved’ by my images. My latest work is entitled Sprites in the Enchanted Forest – a natural progression from my previous body of work which was Tales from the Enchanted Forest. Currently most of the flowers are grown in pots on my own decking garden and some from seed. |
