USA Nominee Still Life Amateur "Glass # 3" Cameraless image In my work I try to tease out how my photography and poetry share a similar mental process. Each process requires an attentiveness to the sights and sounds of small things as there are pictorial and word images to be found everywhere just beyond the periphery of my grasp. While they appear to be independent, they could be siblings, as if birthed the same psychic womb with a shared umbilical cord. Each has a language of their own, investigating and expressing something the other cannot. The poetic searches for words for the inarticulate while the photographic is an agent for visual imagination – life would be poorer without either one as they liberate me from the worries that spring from being human. |
