Every end of summer swallows gather on power lines to fly south. When the excavators arrived and built a massive concrete pole in place of a wooden three-legged pole and laid a new, thick power line, swallows disappeared. Maybe this new construction is to blame, maybe it's proof that the birds are disappearing from our landscape. But this photo of the bird gathering reminds me of old times, my childhood.
