Biography: Olmo Amato is a visual artist based in Rome. He is best known for surreal black-and-white photomontage of natural landscapes and characters from the 19th to early 20th century’s archival photographs. His delicate digital manipulation techniques reanimate people from the past to wander eternal limbo and also complete the mysterious landscape captured by the artist. His nostalgic yet contemporary works can be described as decomposition and re-composition of the reality that free people from place and time. He recently experiments with printing on washi Japanese papers and installation art.
