Australia Nominee Wildlife Professional "Silent Siamang" Siamang are large Gibbon found in the rain forest of South East Asia Jennifere Thompson is an Australian photographer renown for her evocative black and white portraits of wild and endangered animals. She has travelled alone through Africa and Borneo, where she experienced intimate encounters with gorillas and ogangutans in their natural habitats. Her work also extends to photographing primates living in sanctuaries and accredited zoological parks. In 2015, Jennifere founded ICU TOO, an ongoing photographic project whose title carries dual meaning. ICU TOO is both an invitation and a statement: I see you too. Through close-up portraits of our sentient non-human primate relatives, the project encourages viewers to look beyond species and recognise the shared emotions, intelligence, and individuality reflected in their faces. It asks us to see not only their lives, but also the parallels that connect them to our own. |
