Carol Wontkowski
USA Nominee Abstract Professional "Thinking Out Loud" A evocative visual on childhood memories Carol attended Rhode Island School of Photography and began her career as a commercial photographer at a local advertising agency. Over the next several years, she stayed in the advertising field, attended Rhode Island School of Design, and began to photograph on a more creative rather than strictly commercial level. It was about this time that she decided her photography was more art than ad and eventually left the commercial arena but continued to create images on a freelance basis. She later received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology, her second passion. About ten years ago, Carol decided to go public with her images. She is an exhibiting artist member of the Attleboro Arts Museum, Attleboro, MA; the Cambridge Art Association, Cambridge, MA; Galatea Fine Art Gallery in Boston; and the Stony Brook Camera Club. Carol is a Juried Artist Member in the Wickford Art Association , Wickford, RI. She is represented by The Next Door Gallery in Mansfield, MA, and True Grit Gallery in Middleboro, MA. Carol has exhibited throughout New England, on Long Island, North and South Carolina, Florida and California and her work has won awards nationally and internationally in the 12th and 13th Julia Margaret Cameron Awards for Women in Photography.
