"A hand"
The series explores confinement, escape, and connection in transient spaces, where presence fades.

Yiorgos Michael is a visual artist and poet. Born and raised in Cyprus, he has spent much of his adult life in the United States and now lives and works between the two countries. Drawing on his experience of migration and continual movement, his practice explores displacement, presence, identity, aging and belonging. Working across photography, text and installation, he constructs image sequences and spatial environments in which bodies, gestures and transient spaces become psychologically charged. The result is what he describes as the fragile architecture of presence: the uncertain space between appearing and disappearing, intimacy and distance, memory and metaphor. Yiorgos also writes poetry in Greek and English, using text as a parallel material within his visual practice.
