Italy Nominee Portrait Professional "Street Portrait" Simona Poncia approaches to black and white photography through a long cultural journey. Graduated in Conservation of Cultural Heritage, historical-artistic area. She consider contemporary photography as one of the most interesting form of art, too often neglected in the most important art history textbooks. This passion led her to embark on a process of research and discovery of the greatest photographers, studying their works, comparing and trying to capture in each personal style, the different ways in which they relate to the world. �The camera is the amount of brushes and colors for the painter, is only the instrument through which the photographer manages to make immortal a matter of fact, in the continuous flow of time.� In these words Simona Poncia contains the meaning of his work, his art. To borrow the words of Elliott Erwitt on photography as an art of observation, he adds: �It�s looking for something interesting in an anonymous place � I found that it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. � Only through this course of study Simona Poncia, holding his first camera, felt invested with an important role, as she says, �no picture comes from the case, it all depends on the eye of the photographer who can see the beauty in what for many are just moving pictures. � In his photographs, mostly in B&W, shows a humanity made up of feelings. Love, loneliness, irony that captures in a few scenes. Men, women and children taken in their daily lives, gestures to which it gives an aura of sacredness with his shots. The city is the best context in which people act in their full natural and that is where Poncia Simona loves to experiment with his work. In his many journeys, walking the streets, visiting museums and everything is full microcosm of people in them, gives pictures torn to the moment to seize. Other times it is seen surrounded by long pauses, waiting for something good to happen around her. Bustle of the city passed to the silence that is perceived in its landscape photos, a few essential elements, defined by light protagonist, who creates everything, and everything dissolves. In his photographs of landscape establishes a link between the viewer and almost spiritual nature, an intimate dialogue in which no one is allowed to participate.
