It’s been a long journey, from my early "Bilora Boy" camera to the world of rangefinders, SLRs, and the digital era. The fascination of "capturing the light" has remained. Along the way I was an educator and writer of college textbooks, and used images in my publications and in the courses I taught. Gradually my own images found their audiences.
I studied photography at Otis Art Institute, Brooks Institute, and Julia Dean Photo Workshops, completing the certified course of studies. Now I am a fine art and documentary photographer, creating images that show the viewer alternate realities that reflect inner states and global conditions.
My work invites participation in the creative process by engaging the viewer’s imagination in relating to what is presented. Tension, distortions, and ambiguous juxtapositions ask the audience to find personal meanings. Many of my images hover between the real and the unreal, the conscious and the unconscious, sometimes with a touch of the surreal. } ?>
