"Pelican Portrait"
This photograph was taken at Taronga Zoo’s new Southern Oceans exhibit, where the resident Australian Pelicans (Pelecanus conspicillatus) were resting in the sun. One bird was sitting near the enclosure fence, allowing for an extreme close up, frame filling portrait. There was minimal colour in the photo so I converted it to black and white, emphasising composition and tones.
