Dubbed as ‘The People's Photographer’ Gill Shaw is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning photographer with a reputation for an innovative style and casual sincerity that puts people at ease. She is instantly recognisable by her style and charisma that has many, including celebrities, admiring her; as Frederick Forsyth commented 'You can't help but love her'. It is no surprise to learn that Gill is in high demand to record scores of prestigious national and international events, including the Chelsea Flower Show and International Polo. She has also been commissioned by many celebrities to capture intimate and special moments in their lives. In addition to capturing the essence of many celebrities, Gill has photographed Presidents, Prime Ministers and is frequently commissioned to shoot the British Royal Family including HRH Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry. Gill’s passion for photography began when a close family friend was killed during his assignment as a war correspondent covering the Afghanistan war in 1986, He left his camera to Gill. Since then, Gill has used her camera to make a name for herself as a leading portrait photographer while still managing to find the time to raise significant funding and awareness for charity. Gill's exhibition of 200 celebrity photographs, many of them signed, toured the UK in 1999 in conjunction with her first book, 'Slightly Offstage', both of which raised money for Society of Stars helping children and adults with cerebral palsy. Her second book and subsequent exhibition 'The Hero Inside' launched on September 17th, 2009 to raise funds for Help for Heroes, a charity dedicated to supporting wounded soldiers. It was a thought-provoking and emotional record of experiences and traumas on the battlefield and at home, because Gill Shaw, Celebrity Photographer, is also Gill Shaw, the soldier’s mum and her skill and passion for photography resulted in amazing and inspirational photography. Her charity work resulted in her receiving Photographer of the Year 2007, for her involvement in opening a clinic in Africa for ‘Support for Africa’, and the 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award for Inspirational Photographs, acknowledging the contribution of ‘The Hero Inside’ to raising vital funds. She is frequently in the news for her work and is an Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photographers and the Master Photographers Association.
