I am a retired "knowledge worker", actuarially speaking probably in the last decade of my life. Work provided opportunities to be creative. When I retired, I lost the creative outlet I had in writing computer programs. They share some of the goals we have in taking a photo: to create them to be elegant, to have all of its parts work together to create the whole and so on. Rretiring took away that creative outlet and photography has filled that role.
It was not until I discovered the Digital camera that a new world opened up to me.
I have not spent much time learning the technicalities of the camera. Modern cameras with fast autofocus, and low light capabilities now make it possible to get it close to correct and then we have the post processing tools to fill in the gaps. I would like my photographs to have the qualities of a painting. I heard a photographer say that his photography was bilingual - Painting and Photography - a wonderful thought. } ?>
