Grain from ships sailing the Great Lakes was dropped off and stored in the elevators and later used to brew beer. They are now abandoned.

Biography: Steve Siegel purchased his first camera at the age of 58. With camera in hand, he then proceeded to reexamine and photograph the places that, as a lifelong resident of Buffalo, NY he had been exposed to, but perhaps had not really “seen.” He generally prefers to work in black and white, feeling that this is the most evocative medium to capture the true essence of the post-industrial cities that he is so fond of photographing.
