USA Nominee Still Life Amateur "Drama" The elegance of flowers create many moods. Originally from New York City, Patricia now lives in Shoreline, Washington. She was a fashion designer for several years before venturing professionally into other areas of art including film and broadcasting. As an artist she is predominantly self-taught and has studied art formally at several fine art academies when time allowed. Responsibilities of parenthood and family detoured her from art and formal studies, but she has returned to art on a full-time basis. Digital photography is her current passion. Patricia seeks to capture the beauty and depth of her subjects with their subtleties and intricacies. She is especially fond of nature, life, people, objects, and urban living and sometimes combines realism with impressionistic or abstract styles to provide atmosphere and mood in a way to see beyond the image and feel a part of it, or draw others into the image. Often the type of paper used in the finished print is an integral part of the composition as part of the texture and literal feel of the image. She also likes to experiment to expand her art and techniques. Though she does not as yet earn her living as a Photographer/Photographic Artist, Patricia's work has appeared thus far in more than 20 live juried exhibitions including Chicago, Shoreline, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Seattle (Public Art), Minneapolis, and Garrison, New York City and Berlin, as well internet juried exhibitions. Exhibitions include a juried month long one-person, grant-sponsored show at the Renaissance Court Gallery in Chicago's Cultural Center in 2012. Her artwork has appeared in print in 2014, 2015, and 2016 (Photographer's Forum Finalist) and in another one-person, month long exhibition at the Mountlake Terrace Library in 2017. Patricia has won awards for her art. In 2018 health intervened and Patricia needed to step away from her art to heal. She is now returning to her passion and exhibitions. |
